07/01/2003 MINUTESMINUTES TRAFFIC COMMISSION City of Paris The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 5:15 P.M. in the Municipal Court Room with the following members present: 1. Ed Ellis 2. George Robinson 3. Ed Seidle 4. Jon McFadden 5. Rickey Macky 6. George Fisher 7. George Kimbrough The City Staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. The meeting was called to order at 5:16 P.M. by Chairman George Robinson. The minutes of the May 6, 2003, meeting were approved as submitted. The first item of business was a request for Stop Signs on 10' /11th NW at Cherry Street, stopping North and South bound traffic on 10th/1 Ith at West Cherry. Chief Barnett said that this request came from a citizen who said he had almost been hit on two different occasions at this intersection. Police Department record showed no reported accidents at the intersection in the past two (2) years. After discussion Ed Seidle made a motion that the request be denied. The motion was seconded by George Fisher and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays, with Ed Ellis not voting since he felt there might be a conflict of interest for him. The second item was a request for a Stop Sign on 5' Street SW at West Sherman Street, stopping South bound traffic at West Sherman. This request came from a resident of the area who stated that there were numerous small children in the area who often play in the street and the parents have been unable to keep them out of the street. Assistant Chief Barnett said he had been through the area at least four times and children were in the street on all but one time. Since this is a T intersection and the law requires traffic on SW 5' Street to stop for traffic on West Sherman that this Stop Sign is recommended. Rickey Macky made a motion to recommend the sign be placed as requested. Ed Seidle seconded and the motion carried 7 ayes to 0 nays.
