KAUFMAN STREET PARIS, TEXAS TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2009 12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. 1, The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by Chairman Terry Christian at 12:00 p.m. B. The following members were present: Terry Christian, Chairman Chester Martindale Kyle McCarley C. The following members were absent: Howard Corriston Louis Yates David Glass C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, Administrative Assistant. 2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion to approve the minutes of the March 23, 2009, meeting was made by Kyle McCarley, seconded by Chester Martindale. Motion carried 3 -0. 3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of Alpha Lake Ltd. to grant a variance of Section 28 -29(f) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "the total area per face of a pole sign shall not exceed one (1) square, foot per front, foot of property upon which the same is placed; however, under no circumstances shall such sign exceed three hundred (3 00) square. feet in area, " to allow 1.887 square feet of sign face area per. front foot of property, on Lot 3, City Block 287, being number 3552 Lamar Avenue (Mirabeau Square Shopping Center, pole sign). Public hearing was declared open. A. The following individuals spoke in favor of the petition. Jack Culpepper, Owner, spoke in favor of the petition. Mr. Culpepper stated they are changing the name of Mirabeau Square Shopping Center to Paris Towne Center. Want to improve the existing sign and add another sign. Retailers are struggling, this will help boost traffic and give signage for smaller signs. This will be an advantage for business and show support. B. No one spoke in opposition. Public hearing was declared closed. Motion was made by Kyle McCarley, seconded by Chester Martindale to grant the variance request. Motion carried 3 -0. 4.
