The meeting was called to order 4: 01 P.M by Commissioner Dux
2. A motion was made to approve the minutes of the January]], 2017 meeting by Commissioner
Conrad, seconded by Commissioner Knox, motion carried 5-0
3. Review of design standards, Commissioner Dux and Commissioner Knox gave a report on the
following chapters on City of Paris Design Standards: Building Characteristic -Linda Knox,
Building Components- Chris Dux
4. Consent Agenda items:
Discussion and possible action regarding the following structures considered by code
inspectors to be in violation of Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, entitled "Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures," to
determine whether such buildings or structures can be rehabilitated and designated on the
National Register of Historic Places, as a recorded Texas Historic Landmark, or as historic
property as designated by the City Council of the City of Paris.
Commissioner Dux requested Item A be pulled from the Consent agenda for discussion, and send
items B. 1244 SE le C. 1070 NE 13' D. 1075 NE 13t' to the Buildings and Standards
Commission. Motion made by Commissioner Steely, seconded by Commissioner Rolen, Motion
carried S - 0
Item A. Commissioner Dux noted the house is most likely one of the oldest houses in Paris,
historically significant, and noted the owner has not expressed an interest in selling the house.
Commissioner Steely gave a brief recent history on the house and the owner.
After some discussion of condition of the house and taxes due, Commissioner Dux called for a
motion for action. A motion was made to remove 623 6th SE from the list for demolition for 180
days while the Commission researches options for rehabilitation by Commissioner Steely,
seconded by Commissioner Rolen, motion carried 5 — 0
Cheri Bedford, HPO gave a report about the properties who received administratively approval.
A report was given on 625 W. Washington.
DowntownTX.org: Cheri told Commissioners that Paris will be included in the launch of
DowntownTX.org is a powerful program promoting the downtown buildings, surveys, buildings
for lease, for sale. A meeting was set up to receive an orientation and training on the tool. This tool
will make the historic sites survey available in the commercial district, and also be utilized as a tool
for developers and potential business startup locations. Cheri reported the Commission needs to
pick a date in May for a launch of the Imagine the possibilities tour, and work with THC to begin to
update the information available.

Discuss changes to the Design Standards for the Paris Historic District- Commissioner Dux
Ask Commissioner Alarid to give an update on 104 Bonham - Commissioner Steely &
Commissioner Knox
Can Secretary of Interior Standards be placed on the COA- Answer was yes.
