10 - SURPLUS PROPERTYItem No. 10 memorandum TO: City Council John Godwin, City Manager FROM: Bob Hundley, Chief of Police SUBJECT: SURPLUS PROPERTY DATE: March 7th, 2017 BACKGROUND: City Charter Article VII, Section 74 provides for the sale of city property. The city council declares city property as surplus and makes it available for public auction. STATUS OF ISSUE: The police and other city departments have accumulated equipment that is in disrepair, obsolete or not able to be used in our daily operations. A local auctioneer will be holding a public auction on March 25th at the police department. BUDGET: There is no adverse impact to the budget, monies generated on city surplus equipment will be deposited in the general fund. RECOMMENDATION: Declare the list of equipment as surplus and authorize the sale by public auction.
