SUBJECT: CHANGE FOR MEETING DATE IN MAY

BACKGROUND: Texas Election Code Section 67.003(a) requires the canvass of the City's
General Election be conducted between May 9 and May 17, 2017.
STATUS OF ISSUE: May 8 and May 22 are regular scheduled meeting dates. City staff
proposes rescheduling the meeting date of May 8 to May 15. Changing the meeting date will
allow for canvass of the bond election and administering of oaths to new Council Members,
which falls within the time period prescribed by the State for canvassing the election.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Approve change for the first city council meeting date in May from
May 8 to May 15.
