SUBJECT: Update of the Right of Way Purchases and Utility Relocation for State
Highway 24
Council Members and City Staff:
The State Highway 24 project has been a great success to between the City of Paris, Lamar
County, Delta County, City of Cooper, and the Paris Economic Development Corporation.
We are pleased to report that our procurement partner, TXDCT, has saved SURRMA and
our members $1.705M in from our original budget for the procurement of right of way and
the relocation cost of utilities.
The completion of this last 10.4 miles of highway will allow four lane traffic from Laredo,
TX, through Paris, TX, to Chicago, IL, and beyond. This will help our citizens and
manufactures produce goods and services and provide quality truck traffic to the entire
market of North America.
This project is scheduled for completion in December of 2017 and we could not have been
successful without the support of the City of Paris.
