1999-068-ANNEXATION AFFECTING VOTING DISTRICTS
RESOLUTION NO. 99-068
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 25th day of
March, 1999, in Ordinance No. 99-025, annex by petition approximately 150 acres owned by
North Lamar Independent School District, which said Ordinance was amended on the 10th day
of May, 1999, by Ordinance No. 99-038, removing Tract I from said annexation, leaving
approximately 123.60 acres; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 25th day of
March, 1999, in Ordinance No. 99-026, annex by petition approximately 158 acres owned by
Chisum Independent School District; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 25th day of
March, 1999, in Ordinance No. 99-027, annex by petition approximately 17.6 acres owned by
the Breakfast Optimist Club of Paris and known as Woodall Field; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 29th day of
April, 1999, in Ordinance No. 99-034, annex approximately 3,650.642 acres; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the new Voting District Map attached hereto
as Exhibit A, which provides for the inclusion of the newly annexed areas into existing voting
districts, be approved and adopted; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY O}' PARIS, that the
Voting District Map attached hereto as Exhibit A be, and the same is hereby, approved and
adopted; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is determined that the inclusion of the area
annexed by Ordinance No. 99-D25 into District 4; the area annexed by Ordinance No. 99-026 into
District 5; the area annexed by Ordinance No. 99-D27 into District 7; the area described as Tracts
3 and 4 in Ordinance No. 99-034 into District 2; the area described as Tract 10 in Ordinance No.
99-D34 into District 3; the area described as Tracts 1, 2, 5, and 11 in Ordinance No. 99-034 into
District 4; the area described as Tract 6 in Ordinance No. 99-034 into District 5; and the area
described as Tracts 7 and 8 in Ordinance No. 99-034 into District 7 will not have the effect of
abridging the right of any person to vote on account of race, color, or membership in a language
minority or group.
