RESOLUTION NO. 2017 -028' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 2017 -026 AND AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -022 REGARDING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,898.55 FROM THE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR, FOR A CITY OF PARIS - DIVE TEAM PROJECT (NO. 3042901), TO CHANGE THE DESIGNEE OF GRANTEE'S AUTHORIZED OFFICIAL; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on June 27, 2016 the City Council of the City of Paris approved Resolution 2016 -022 accepting a grant in the amount of $17,057.05 from the Division of Emergency Management, Office of the Governor, for a hazardous materials /dive rescue project and designating A.J. Hashmi, Mayor, as the grantee's authorized official with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the City and its agencies; and WHEREAS, on June 26, 2017, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2017 -026 changing the City's authorized official; and WHEREAS, Grantor has requested changes to Resolution No. 2017 -026, to change the name of Grantor to the Homeland Security Grant Division, to correct the grant number, to authorize acceptance of Grant No. 3042901 for the City of Paris - Dive Team Project, and to provide written assurances that in the event of the loss or misuse of grant funds, the City will return all funds to the Homeland Security Grant Division; and WHEREAS, since the Mayor is an official elected annually, designation of the person holding the office of Mayor as the grantee's authorized official, rather than any named individual, is prudent; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the person occupying the office of Mayor at the time any of the powers enumerated herein are required to be exercised shall be designated as grantee's authorized official with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency. Section 3. That the City Council of the City of Paris accepts the grant in the amount of $11,898.55 from the Homeland Security Grand Division, Office of the Governor for the City of Paris Dive - Team Project (No. 3042901).
