1999-122-CONTRACT TO SOUTHWESTERN BELL FOR SMARTTRUNK
RESOLUTION NO. 99-122
WHEREAS, the City of Paris is desirous of upgrading its existing phone trunks to a T-I
line, and it is necessary that a Contract for Services be executed with Southwestern Bell for the
installation of the same; and,
WHEREAS, the form of the Contract for Services, attached hereto as Exhibit A, should,
in all things, be approved, and the City Manager, Michael E. Malone, should be authorized to
execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the
form of the Contract for Services with Southwestern Bell for the installation of a T -1 line, also
known as a SmartTrunk, be, and the same is hereby, approved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; that the City Manager, Michael E. Malone, be, and he
is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the Contract for
Services, under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto.

CONTRACT FOR SERVICE
THIS CONTRACT is effective this 11 th day of October, 1999, between Southwestern
Bell Telephone Company (SWBT) and City of Paris, Paris, Texas, (Customer) as follows:
1. Southwestern Bell Telephone Company agrees to install telephone service consisting
of One (I) SMARTTRUNK (I-SPAN), at the following location: 135 1st Street
S.E., Paris, Texas.
2. Customer agrees to accept and pay for such service and equipment and for any
additional service or modifications thereof as may later be agreed upon to be installed
at the rates and terms established in SWBT's tariffs, and further agrees to the rules
and regulations set forth in said tariffs. If a conflict between this contract for service
and the tariff occurs, the tariff will govern in all instances. A copy of the tariff is
available upon request.
3. The service term for the SmartTrunk Interface will commence on the date service is
installed and shall remain in effect for a minimum term of 60 continuous months and
thereafter until terminated.
4. The customer does not elect to defer installation and non-recurring charges over a
period of 60 months, and if deferred agrees to pay the applicable deferred payment
charge at the tariff rate.
5. The terms and conditions of this contract are equally binding upon the parties named
herein, their heirs, assigns and successors in interest.
