A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS, CONFIRMING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF PHILIP CECIL AS A MEMBER OF
THE FIRE FIGHTERS' AND POLICE OFFICERS' CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF PARIS FOR A TERM OF THREE (3) YEARS, BEGINNING JANUARY
1,2000, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31,2002, AND CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT
OF SIMS NORMENT TO SERVE THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF RICHARD M. AMIS,
WHICH EXPIRES ON DECEMBER 31, 2000; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the term of office of Philip Cecil, as a member of the Fire Fighters' and
Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris, will expire on December 31, 1999;
and,
WHEREAS, there exists a vacancy on the membership of the Fire Fighters' and Police
Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris due to the resignation of Richard M.
Amis, and it is necessary to appoint his successor; and,
WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Paris, Michael E. Malone, in accordance
with the authority granted in Section 143.006(b) of the Local Government Code, has reappointed
Philip Cecil for a term of three (3) years, beginning January 1,2000, and ending December 31,
2002, and has appointed Sims Norment to serve the unexpired term of Richard M. Amis, which
ends December 31, 2000, and has submitted the names of such persons to the City Council for
confirmation; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section 2.
That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
That the appointment of Philip Cecil, as a member of the Fire Fighters' and Police
Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris, for a term of three (3)
years, beginning January 1,2000, and ending December 31, 2002, be, and the same
is hereby, confirmed.
Section 1.
Section 3.
That the appointment of Sims Norment to serve the unexpired term of Richard M.
Amis, which ends December 31,2000, as a member of the Fire Fighters' and
Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris be, and the same is
hereby, confirmed.
Section 4.
That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
