2000-169-RES AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF WATER LINES
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-169
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF WATER LINES
SERVING AREAS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF PARIS FROM THE
LAMAR COUNTY WATER SUPPLY DISTRICT; MAKING OTHER
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, has previously annexed areas to the city of Paris
currently receiving water service through facilities owned by Lamar County Water Supply District;
and,
WHEREAS, representatives of the City of Paris and the Lamar County Water Supply
District have identified those lines necessary for acquisition by the City of Paris for the City of Paris
to provide water service to newly annexed customers while at the same time appropriately
compensating the Lamar County Water Supply District for their ownership interest in said lines; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to confirm and approve the purchase of said identified
lines and to authorize the City Manager, City Attorney, Finance Director, and other appropriate City
officials to undertake all actions necessary to acquire the aforesaid identified water services lines;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, does hereby in all things
approve the acquisition of existing water lines and other associated facilities and infrastructure in
and along a portion of P.M. 195, the Wildwood Estates, and Smallwood Road from Lamar County
Water Supply District, and does hereby authorize the City Manager, City Attorney, Finance Director,
and other appropriate City officials to undertake any and all action necessary to acquire the aforesaid
lines in return for appropriate compensation.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage_
