Item No. 9 TO: City Council John Godwin, City Manager FROM: Doug Harris, Director of Utilities SUBJECT: AWARD WATER TREATMENT CHEMICAL BID DATE: 10/10/2017 BACKGROUND: Bids for water and wastewater treatment chemicals were initially received and opened on 07/25/2017; vendors/suppliers notified the City of Paris they would be unable to Donor the submitted bids for liquid caustic (50% sodium hydroxide), due to the Impact of Hurricane Harvey on production costs. STATUS OF ISSUE: This water treatment chemical was published for rebid. A bid notice was advertised in The Paris News on 09/24/2017 and 10/'01/2017; published on the City of Paris Department of Utilities website; published on the Texas Comptroller Electronic State Business Daily website; and bid packets were direct mailed to twelve (12) vendors, eight (8) submitted bids. Bid submittals were opened on October 10, 2017; the low bid for liquid caustic (50% sodium hydroxide) was received from Petra Chemical Company at $667,00/ton. The tabulation is attached. All original bid documents are available for review in the office of the City Clerk. BUDGET: Department 82 - Water Production 10-0211-82-00: $166,750,00, RECOMMENDATION, Approve the low bid received from Petra Chernical Company for liquid caustic (50% sodium hydroxide) to be used at the water treatment plant in FY 2017/2018.
