RESOLUTION NO. 2000-042
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS, APPROVING CHANGE OF COUNCIL MEETING DATE FROM
MONDAY, MAY 8, 2000, TO TUESDAY, MAY 9, 2000; MAKING OTHER
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the regularly scheduled City Council meeting for May, being Monday, May
8, 2000, is the meeting for canvassing the municipal election which is to be held on the 6th day
of May, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, because of a change in Section 67.003 of the Election Code, the canvassing
is to take place three (3) days after the election instead of two (2) which will necessitate a change
in the date for the Council meeting to Tuesday, May 9, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the regular Monday meeting of the City Council
scheduled for May 8, 2000, be moved to Tuesday, May 9, 2000; NOW, THEREFORE,
JJE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section I. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the regular Monday meeting of the City Council scheduled for May 8,
2000, be, and the same is hereby, rescheduled for Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at 6:00 o'clock p.m.
Section 3, That a copy of this Resolution be placed on the City Hall Bulletin Board giving
notice of the rescheduling of the regular Monday, May Council meeting, and that the news media
be informed of the rescheduled date in the same manner they are informed of emergency City
Council meetings.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
