RESOLUTION NO. 2000-051
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, AWARDING BID AND AUTHORIZING CONTRACT FOR
THE PERFORMANCE OF FRAMING AND FINISHES AS PART OF THE
CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE STATIONS NO. TWO AND FOUR; MAKING
OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT;
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 13th day of
December, 1999, in Resolution No, 99-151, approve the advertisement for bids for furnishing
plant, labor, materials, and equipment, and for performing all work required for the "Fire Station
No, Two, Located at 4050 Pine Mill Road Project," which bids were received until 3:00 o'clock
p,m.. Tuesday, January 25,2000; and,
WHEREAS, the Cily Council of !he City of Paris did heretofore, on the 13th day of
December, 1999, in Resolution No, 99-151, approve the advertisement for bids for furnishing
plant, labor, materials, and equipment, and for performing all work required for the "Fire Station
No. Four, Located at 24th Street S,E, and Jefferson Road Project," which bids were received until
3:00 o'clock p.m" Tuesday, January 25,2000; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 14th day of
February, 2000, reject all bids and authorize the project to be revised and rebid in the form of
separate contracts for various portions of the project, which bids were received until 3 :000' clock
p,m" Tuesday, the 28th day of March, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, the best bid for the performance of that portion of the project dealing with
Framing and Finishes was made by Smallwood Construction, of Paris, Texas, and it should be
awarded the bid for the same; and,
WHEREAS, the form of the conlract for such construction work, attached hereto as
Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the Mayor should be authorized to execute the
same; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of !his resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the bid of Smallwood Construction for the performance of that portion of
the project dealing with Framing and Finishes for the construction of "Fire Station No, Two,
Located at 4050 Pine Mill Road Project," and "Fire Stalion No, Four, Located at 24th Street S.E.
and Jefferson Road Project," in the amount of $524,000,00, be, and the same is hereby, accepted
and let conditioned upon said contractor meeting all of the terms and specifications included in the
bid documenls,
Section 3. That lhe form of the contract with Smallwood Construction, attached hereto
as Exhibit A, be, and the same is hereby, approved,
Section 4. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on
behalf of the City of Paris, the contract with Smallwood Construction, upon the lerms and
conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto,
Section 5. That this resolution shall be effective from and after the date of passage.
