RESOLUTION NO. 2000-080
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 2000-056; AWARDING
THE BID AND AUTHORIZING THE CONTRACT FOR THE
PERFORMANCE OF METAL BUILDING SYSTEMS AS PART OF THE
CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE STATION NO. TWO; MAKING OTHER
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 13th day of
December, 1999, in Resolution No. 99-151, approve the advertisement for bids for furnishing
plant, labor, materials, and equipment, and for performing all work required for the "Fire Station
No. Two Project, Located at 4050 Pine Mill Road," which bids were received until 3:00 o'clock
p.m., Tuesday, January 25,2000; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 14th day of
February, 2000, reject all bids and authorize the project to be revised and rebid in the form of
separate contracts for various portions of the project, which bids were received until 3:00 0' clock
p.m., Tuesday, the 28th day of March, 2000; and,
WHEREAS, the best bid for the performance of that portion of the project dealing with
metal building systems was made by Harrison, Walker & Harper of Paris, Texas, and it should
be awarded the bid for the same; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council did, by prior Resolution No. 2000-056, award a single
contractto Harrison, Walker & Harper of Paris, Texas, for constructing that portion of the project
dealing with metal building systems for both Fire Station No.2, located at 4050 Pine Mill Road,
and Fire Station No.4, located at 24th Street S.E. and Jefferson Road; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has now determined it would be in the best interests of the
City and the contractor to award separate contracts for metal building systems work on each
separate fIre station project; and,
WHEREAS, having so determined the need for such separate contracts, the City Council
further fInds and determines the prior resolution authorizing that portion of the project dealing
with metal building systems as a single contract for performing such work on Fire Station No.2,
located at 4050 Pine Mill Road, should be in all things repealed; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council further fmds and determines that a new resolution should
be approved awarding the bid and authorizing the contract for the performance of metal building
systems work to Harrison, Walker & Harper of Paris, Texas, for the performance of such work
as part of the construction of Fire Station No.2, located at 4050 Pine Mill Road; and,
WHEREAS, the form of the contract for such construction work, attached hereto as
Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the Mayor should be authorized to execute the
same; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the bid of Harrison, Walker & Harper for the performance of that portion
of the project dealing with metal building systems for the construction of "Fire Station No. Two,
Located at 4050 Pine Mill Road," in the amount of $78,224.00, be, and the same is hereby,
accepted and let conditioned upon said contractor meeting all of the terms and specifications
included in the bid documents.
Section 3. That the form of the contract with Harrison, Walker & Harper, attached hereto
as Exhibit A, be, and the same is hereby, approved.
Section 4. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on
behalf of the City of Paris, the contract with Harrison, Walker & Harper, upon the terms and
conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto.
Section 5. That Resolution No. 2000-056, dated April 10, 2000, be and is hereby
repealed.
Section 6. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
