2001-166-RES INCREASING NUMBER OF MEMBERS ON AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD TO NINE
RESOLUTION NO. 2001-166
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, INCREASING THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS ON THE
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD TO NINE (9); MAKING OTHER FINDINGS
AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Paris did heretofore, in Resolution No. 1354,
establish an Airport Advisory Board to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in relation
to the Municipal Airport and its operation and facilities, which Board originally consisted of seven
members; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on January 8, 1973, in
Resolution No. 1538, reduce the membership of the Board to five (5) members; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Paris did heretofore, on November 11, 1974,
in Resolution No. 1646, expand the membership of the Board to seven (7) members; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on December 8, 1975,
in Resolution No. 1722, reduce the membership of the Board to five (5) members; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on August 14, 1989, in
Resolution No. 89-095, expand the membership of the Board to seven (7) members, which has
remained the membership of the Board to this time; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore direct the City Attorney
to conduct a survey of various airports around Texas to determine their various methods of
operation, leasing policies, hangar rentals, and size of advisory board, among other things; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on August 13, 2001,
based on the results of said survey and the recommendations of the Airport Advisory Board, direct
the Legal Department to take necessary steps to expand the membership of the Airport Advisory
Board to nine (9) members, and the City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City of
Paris that said Board be expanded to consist of a chairman and eight (8) members; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the Airport Advisory Board shall be and is hereby expanded by the
addition of two (2) additional positions, said Board hereafter to consist of a chairman and eight
(8) members, or a total of nine (9) members, each to serve a term of two (2) years.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
