1997-030-REC WHEREAS, CITY COUNCIL IS SUPPORTIVE OF TITLE VIII OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1968
RESOLUTION NO. 97 -030
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is supportive of Title VIII of the
Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, which prohibits discrimination in housing; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris has executed a Proclamation
proclaiming the month of April as "Fair Housing Month" in the City of Paris, in the form
attached hereto as Exhibit A; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the City of Paris that the City
Council of the City of Paris show support of the Fair Housing law by approving said
proclamation; NOW, THEREI<'ORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY TIlE CITY COUNCIL OJ' THE CITY 01<' PARIS, that
the Proclamation proclaiming April as "Fair Housing Month" in the City of Paris, in the
form attached hereto as Exhibit A, be, and the same is hereby, approved.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as
amended, prohibits discrimination in housing and declares it a national
policy to provide, within constitutional limits, for fair housing in the
United States; and,
WHEREAS, The principle of Fair Housing is not only national law
and national policy, but a fundamental human concept and entitlement for
all Americans; and,
WHEREAS, the twenty-ninth anniversary of this National Fair
Housing Law, during the month of April, provides an opportunity for all
Americans to recognize that complete success in the goal of equal housing
opportunity can only be accomplished with the help and cooperation of all
Americans.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Eric S. Clifford, Mayor of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, by authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim April
as
FAIR HOUSING MONTH
in the City of Paris and do hereby urge all the citizens of Paris to become
aware of and support the Fair Housing law. .
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and
caused the Seal of the City of Paris to be affixed this 21st day of March,
