BACKGROUND- Following the canvass of the general election, the City Council will be seated
for the upcoming year.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Section 16 of the City Charter requires that the newly comprised City
Council shall elect from among its members a mayor and mayor pro -tern.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Move to appoint a mayor and a mayor pro -tem to serve for one year.
