1997-093-RES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 6th day of February, 1997, in I r . . RESOLUTION NO. Q7-0Q3 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 6th day of February, 1997, in Resolution No. 97-010, authorize an application to be made to the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, for a grant under the Federal Safe and Drug-Free School Act; and, WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division, has issued its Grant Award, entitled "Police Athletic League Grant, No. ED-97-J01-1I369," for the period beginning September 1, 1997, and ending August 31, 1998, in the total amount of $34,233.00, requiring a matching contribution of $23,032.00; and, WHEREAS, acceptance of the same must occur within forty-five (45) days of the date of said award, which occurred on July 31, 1997; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City of Paris accept said Grant Award and continue to fund a full-time police officer as a coordinator for the Police Athletic League in the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the Safe/Drug Free Schools & Communities Act Grant, entitled "Police Athletic League Grant, No. ED-97-JOI-11369," for the period beginning September 1, 1997, and ending August 31, 1998, be, and the same is hereby, accepted; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager of the City of Paris, Michael E. Malone, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the Grant Acceptance Notice under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto. GRANTEE REQUEST FOR FUNDS All grantee requests for funds shall be submitted to CJD. to the attention of the Accounting Department, in accordance with the instructions provided by CJD and shall be in the form required by CJD. Requests for funds will not be honored until all special conditions outlined on the Statement of Grant Award and that required action on the part of the grantee have been satisfied. FUTURE FUNDING Approval of the above-referenced grant does not commit the Governor's Office to future funding. Any such funding shall be determined br the state plan or guide under which application mar be made, bI all applicable polic~es and procedures ~romulgated by the Governor's Off~ce, Crimina Justice Division, and/or federal guidel~nes, and by the ap- propriation of funds.
