1996-051-RES WHEREAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION AUTHORITY PROVIDES FUNDING
RESOLUTION NO. Q6-051
WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Automobile Theft Prevention Authority
provides funding for automobile theft prevention grants; and,
WHEREAS, the information furnished for the submission of the Automobile Theft
Prevention Program Grant was not made available to the City of Paris in time for the
May 13, 1996, Council Meeting which directed that applications be submitted on or
before June 4, 1996, and this being the first regularly scheduled council meeting since
the making available of such information, it is appropriate that authorization be granted
for the making of such application; and,
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant
application for the Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled, "Northeast Texas
Automobile Theft Task Force" project, in the amount of $102,826.00 with $16,974 to be
provided by the City of Paris in the form of local funds and $4,200.00 in the form of in-
kind services; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
I . That an application be made to the Office of the Governor, Automobile
Theft Prevention Authority for an Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled, "Northeast
Texas Automobile Theft Task Force" project, in the amount of $102,826.00 being
approximately 83 % of the estimated cost of the Automobile Theft Prevention Program
with $16,974 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of local funds and
$4,200.00 in the form of in-kind services.
2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and he is
hereby, appointed as the Authorized Official of said project and is authorized and directed
to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the application for grant in the form attached
hereto as Exhibit A.
3. That Karl Louis, be, and he is hereby, appointed as Project Director and
is hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Paris all reports,
communications, assurances and documents necessary for the completion of said project.
4. That W. E. Anderson, Director of Finance, be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to serve as the Financial Officer for said project and to receive and distribute
funds for the City of Paris police Department's continuing participation in the Automobile
Theft Prevention Program.
