1996-052-RES WHEREAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION AUTHORITY PROVIDES FUNDING
RESOLUTION NO. 96-052
WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Automobile Theft Prevention
Authority provides funding for automobile theft prevention grants; and,
WHEREAS, the information furnished for the submission of the Automobile
Theft Prevention Program Grant was not made available to the City of Paris in time
for the May 13, 1996, Council Meeting which directed that applications be submitted
on or before June 4, 1996, and this being the first regularly scheduled Council
Meeting since the making available of such information, it is appropriate that
authorization be granted for the making of such application; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing
a grant application for Automobile Theft Prevention Program Grant entitled, "Paris
Law Enforcement Detection and Apprehension" project, for City of Paris
enhancement by adding an officer out of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department to assist
in this program, in the amount of $42,547.00, with no matching funds; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
1. That an application be made to the Office of the Governor,
Automobile Theft Prevention Authority for a grant entitled, "Paris Law
Enforcement Detection and Apprehension" project, for City of Paris enhancement
by adding an officer out of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department to assist in this
program in the amount of $42,547.00, with no matching funds.
2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and
he is hereby appointed as the Authorized Official of said project and is authorized
and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the application for grant in the
form attached hereto as Exhibit A.
3. That Karl Louis, be, and he is hereby appointed as Project Director
and is hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Paris all
reports, communications, assurances, and documents necessary for the completion
of said project.
4. That W. E. Anderson, Director of Finance, be, and he is hereby
authorized and directed to serve as the Financial Officer for said project and to
receive and distribute funds for purposes of adding a third office in Mt. Pleasant to
assist in the City of Paris' enhancement of the Automobile Theft Prevention
Program.
