1996-046-RES WHEREAS, COP, PISD AND COUNTY OF LAMAR HOLD IN TRUST
RESOLUTION NO.

WHEREAS, the City of Paris, the Paris Independent School District and the County of
Lamar hold in trust for each other property resulting from delinquent tax lien foreclosure; and,
WHEREAS, the cost of the maintenance of said property being held for resale has not
been budgeted by the several entities and any assistance in maintaining such property will serve
the public need; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris has determined that the use of prison labor from the
Buster Cole State Jail in Bonham, Texas, for the maintenance of said lots and other projects
would benefit the several entities; and,
WHEREAS, the Paris Independent School District is considering the transfer of title of
a twenty-three (23) seat bus to the City of Paris as its initial contribution to prison labor projects
within the City of Paris, and it is deemed appropriate that such transfer be accepted, if offered,
and that the bus be appropriately painted and marked; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that, in
the event the Paris Independent School District offers to transfer title to a bus to be used in
prison labor projects, the City Manager of the City of Paris is authorized to receive the same
and process said transfer of title and appropriately paint and mark the bus.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that, in the event of said transfer of title, the City
Manager of the City of Paris convey the City Council's appreciation to the Paris Independent
School District Board of Trustees for its assistance in this project.
