1996-013-RES WHEREAS, MAYOR OF COP, ERIC S CLIFFORD, DID ON THE 8TH DAY OF JANUARY 1996 RESOLUTION NO. 96-013 WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris, Eric S. Clifford, did, on the 8th day of January, 1996, appoint a committee consisting of Council Members John Bell, Alan Boyd, and Charles Fulbright for the purpose of studying a proposal to allow for temporary closure of the area around Culbertson Fountain for a special event; and, WHEREAS, said committee did, on the 12th day of February, 1996, recommend to the City Council that the downtown area be available for temporary closures for special events, and it is deemed appropriate that City policy which has prohibited the closure of streets for commercial use be amended; and, WHEREAS, in order to have an expeditious manner of approving requests for the closure or use of any street for a special event, it is deemed appropriate that a committee, known as the Special Events Committee, be created for the purpose of reviewing and approving applications and plans from any group or person requesting such closure or use; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that City of Paris policy be, and the same is hereby, amended to allow for the closure or use of any street in connection with a special event upon approval of detailed plans by the Special Events Committee; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a Special Events Committee consisting of the City Manager, the City Attorney, the City Engineer, the Chief of Police, the Fire Chief, the Director of Community Facilities and the Director of the Paris-Lamar County Health Department be, and the same is hereby, created for the purpose of reviewing and approving applications and plans from any group or person requesting the closure or use of any street in connection with a special event, PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of Februa~ ~#~ Eric S.
