Paris Public Library Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
August 15, 2018
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
Present:
Board members present were Carol James, Connie Dodd, Christina Schock, Ashley Lassiter, Marilyn Threadgill, Rebecca
Umphrey, Denise Kornegay and director Priscilla McAnally.
• Approval of Minutes:
The minutes of the July 18, 2018 meeting were unanimously approved with one correction, that being the
correction of Christina’s name spelling.
• New Business:
Director reported on the Trust fund balances. Permanent fund, of which the principle cannot be spent but
interest can, has a balance of $92,354.21. The Expendable fund, which can be spent, has a balance of
$78,464.15.
Director gave a staff update. The para-professional position has been filled by Pamela Thomas.
• Old Business:
None
• Presentations:
• Budget Report was presented with no comments.
• Statistical Report was presented with no comments.
• Friends of the Library:
A second calligraphy workshop was held, fewer participants this round. Friends and children’s dept. are
hosting a contest for the new window cling design. Children’s will host a pajama party again this year with
Santa, details forthcoming.
• Director’s Remarks:
Bed bugs were reported in the chairs in the magazines department. Chairs have been sprayed and there have
been no more complaints.
The video and audiobook sections of the library are going to be switching places due to space.
The next meeting will be September 19.
