SUBJECT: HANGAR LEASE EXTENSION
DATE: November 30, 2018
BACKGROUND: Eric Zarones approached the city about getting an extension to his existing
ground lease on Hangar A-7. This is a hangar he acquired relatively recently, after which he has
done approximately $12,000 of upgrades, at his cost, to the structure. Improvements include:
1. Foam insulated entire hangar and painted foam;
2. Installed four feet skirting from pearling to floor;
3. Installed electrical outlets all around hangar; and
4. Installed four new ceiling lights and switches.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Mr. Zarones has requested a five-year extension to the existing 30 -year
lease, which has always been maintained consistent with his agreement with the city. The airport
board discussed this request at its November 15 meeting, and unanimously recommended its
approval by the city council.
BUDGET: NA
RECOMMENDATION: Approve lease extension.
