1. Call meeting to order -Chairman 4:00 P.M.
2. The January 9, 2018 meeting minutes were approved by acclamation.
3. Lucy Funk and David Wensel presented their plans for the renovation of the rear of the
property located at 125 Lamar Ave. The owners presented a drawing of the proposed design.
The plans are as follows: 1. New wooden framed double doors to replace the existing metal
doors in opening. 2. New wood frame transom window matching historic mullion and
mutton, 3. Wood frame single hung wooden windows on bottom floor next to door, 4. Two
over two pane single hung wooden or aluminum clad wooden windows on second floor
opening (5 total), and 5. Addition of a small metal canopy going over the entry door. After a
few questions & clarifications on how many windows were being replaced in the remodel
and type of materials used, Commissioner Dux called for a motion to approve. A motions
was made by Commissioner Coyle to approve the renovation, seconded by Commissioner
Lazar, motion carried unanimously.
The commission convened to front of council chambers at 4:15 p.m. to take a picture and
present Lucy Funk and Dave Wensel with a $2, 500 faVade grant for the remodel of the front
fagade of property located at 125 Lamar Commission reconvened at 4:17 p.m.
4. Consent agenda: The properties located at A. 16 E Washington, B. 845 E Washington C.
1400 Cedar, D. 133 NE 8th. Chairman Dux opened the floor for questions. There was a brief
discussion how to salvage the valuable historic building materials from the property on 8th
SE. Hearing no other discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Lazar recommending
the houses continue the process with the Building and Standards Commission. It was
determined the properties have no significant ties to the history of Paris and cannot be
rehabilitated, designated on the National Register of Historic Places, as a recorded Texas
Historic Landmark, or eligible as historic property as designated by the City Council of the
City of Paris. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Vandiver, Motion carried.
5. HPO report— Cheri Bedford gave the Certificate of Appropriateness report to the
commission and will send a copy for their records. Cheri also shared some up and coming
events for March and April information on the Texas Capital fund sidewalk grant for N.
Main, and the Plant a Tree program.
6. A motion was made by Commissioner Hider to adjourn at 4:45 p.m., Seconded by
Commissioner Coyle, Motion carried
Immediately after the meeting the Commission met with Janet and Keith Green and presented
them with their two $2,500 matching facade grant for properties located at 17 Clarksville and
21 Clarksville St.
