<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />94- 140 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware of community <br />needs for which local funds have not been and will not be available to accomplish. <br />Such needs are in the area of street paving and drainage; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris desires to develop a viable <br />urban community, including decent housing and a suitable living environment and <br />expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low/moderate income; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, certain conditions exist which represent a threat to the public <br />health and safety; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funding for such programs is available through the Texas <br />Department of Housing and Community Affairs for the Community Development <br />Fund, under the Texas Community Development Program, YQun~ v. Cisneros <br />Fund; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Paris to <br />apply for funding under the 1994 Texas Community Development Program; NOW, <br />THERE}'ORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS: <br /> <br />I. That three Texas Community Development Program applications for <br />the Community Development Fund are hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the <br />City with the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. <br /> <br />2. That such applications shall address the following needed projects: <br /> <br />(I) Curb and gutter, street paving and drainage on 6th Street N .E. <br />from Garrett Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. <br /> <br />(2) Clearing and grubbing, rough grading and appurtenant <br />drainage work to ready project site for street construction on <br />Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive extension from 6th Street N.E. <br />to North Main Street. <br /> <br />(3) Procure Washington Street Grocery property, 800 block of <br />West Washington and renovate existing building and convert <br />to a laundry facility. <br /> <br />3. That the City's applications be placed in competition for funding under <br />the Y Qun!! v. Cisneros Fund. <br /> <br />4. That the applications in the aggregate of $272,000.00 of grant funds <br />to carry out the three referenced projects as follows: <br /> <br />(I) $112,000.00 <br /> <br />'" n^ nl"\n ^^ <br />
