BACKGROUND: Bids for water and wastewater treatment chemicals are scheduled annually.
Bids were received and publicly opened at 3:00 p.m. on 07/23/2019.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Bids were advertised in The Paris News on 06/30/2019 and 07/07/2019,
and published on the City of Paris Department of Utilities website; bid packets were direct
mailed to sixty (60) vendors; thirty-one (3 1) bids from twenty-one (2 1) vendors were submitted.
Low bids received: Chlorine, $770.00/ton, Brenntag Southwest, Inc.; Alum, $223.00/ton,
Affinity Chemical, LLC.; Ammonia, $1,270.00/ton, Tanner Industries, Inc.; Bulk Lime,
$189.60/ton, Austin White Lime Company; Bagged Lime, $305.63/ton, Austin White Lime
Company; Powdered Activated Carbon, $0.495/lb., Thatcher Company, Inc.; Sulfur Dioxide,
$770.00/ton, Brenntag Southwest, Inc.; Sodium Hydroxide, $587.00/ton, Brenntag Southwest,
Inc.; Polymer, $1.20/lb., Polydyne, Inc.; Fluoride, $1.96/gal, Pencco, Inc. The bid tabulation is
attached. All original bid documents are available for review in the office of the City Clerk.
BUDGET: Department 82 - Water Production 10-0211-82-00: $568,241.30; Department 86 —
Wastewater Treatment 10-0211-86-00: $137,000.00; Overall total: $705,241.30.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the low bids received for water and wastewater treatment
chemicals to be used in FY 2019/2020.
