Glee Emmite called the meeting to order at 4:36 PM in the Paris City Council Chambers. 2. Citizens Forum — No one present to speak. 3. Board introductions — Kaydee Tate and William Walker were introduced and welcomed as new members of the Board. Each member of the Board shared information about his/her time on the Board, volunteer service, occupation, etc. as well as the position held as a board officer. 4. Main Street information — Cheri Bedford reviewed the Paris Main Street website pointing out pertinent information. The Paris Main Street Strategic Plan was visited with Board members being asked to review the work plan for input at the next meeting. 5. Election of Officers — Floor was open for all offices. • Secretary - Glee Emmite nominated Carolyn Patterson, second by Shelley McDowell, motion carried. • Vice Chairman — Carolyn Patterson nominated Shelley McDowell, second by Glee Emmite, motion carried. • Chairman — Shelly McDowell nominated Glee Emmite, second by Carolyn Patterson, motion carried. 6. April minutes — Minutes were emailed earlier to all board members and were available on the monitors for viewing. A motion to approve the April 15, 2019 minutes was made by Shelley McDowell, second by William Walker, motion carried. A motion to approve the April 9, 2019 minutes with a correction from "Gull Wing" to "Gold Wing" was made by Shelley McDowell, second by William Walker, motion carried. 7. Committee Discussions — Reports were tabled until the next meeting in order to give the new Board members time to read the work plan and become familiar with the committees that are a part of the plan. New members were encouraged to volunteer for one of them at the next meeting. 8. Main Street Manager's Report — Cheri Bedford reported the following. • The Main Street program is a branch of the Texas Historical Commission (THC), and that Commission offers a variety of awards for various accomplishments. 1) One award recognizes businesses that are 50 years or older and contribute to the economics of Texas. Paris Golf and Country Club is over 100 years old, and Laurie Redus will work on the nomination forms for that award. 2) Paris Bakery will be nominated for the Texas Downtown Association President's Award for restoration and rehab with Laurie Redus working on that nomination. 3) The Paris Downtown Mini Golf will be nominated for the Best Downtown Promotion with Glee Emmite working on that nomination. Deadline for submission is July 26, 2019. • The meeting time for the Board was discussed. The regular monthly meeting will still begin at 4:30 PM. • The Texas Historical Commission quarterly meeting will be held in the upstairs meeting room above the Paris City Council Chambers beginning July 171 for 4 days. The Board is invited to a reception for them at Peoples Bank. The group will tour some of the historic sites in Paris while in town for the meeting. • The Sky Chief mural on South Main Street will be restored in the next few weeks. • A Destination Development webinar regarding high impact video content will be shown in the Council Chambers at 10:30 AM, July 24th, 2019. • The Paris Main Street work plan will be updated soon. • The original owners of The Escape in Georgetown grew a small business into a million dollar company and have started a consultant company. Possibly Main Street and Paris Downtown Association can join forces to work with these successful business owners for new ideas for the Paris downtown. • Cheri needs volunteers to help her with updates to the downtown map before the middle of August. • The Historic Preservation Committee (HPC) meets July 101 at 4 PM. They will review a proposal for a mural to be painted on the 11 Street wall of PCT's Brown Center. The mural would be funded by Dr. Pepper and tailored to the city with historic touches. • Farmer's Market has been very successful this year with 8 tables added and around 600-700 people attending. • Festival of Pumpkins is quickly approaching in October. • Wine Fest is being moved to April 4,, 2020 due to Easter weekend. • Christmas tree lighting will be November 16, 2019. • An Ice Cream Social hosted by PDA and downtown businesses will be 4-6 PM, August 2; 2019 during the monthly antique car show around the Plaza. • Glee Emmite requested that the work plan be included on the agenda for the next meeting. 9. Laurie Redus made a motion to adjourn, second by Shelley McDowell, motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 5:22 PM.
