SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO VARIOUS BOARDS

BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards and Commissions, adopted by City
Council require that appointments be made at the second regular City Council meeting in June.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Appointments were made on June 24. At that time, there were not enough
applicants to fill the Buildings & Standards Commission and the Traffic Commission. Staff was
instructed to re -advertise. As a result of advertising, staff received an application from Pat
Conrad for the Building and Standards Commission, and from John Darst for the Traffic
Commission. Making these appointments will complete the Traffic Commission and still leave
two vacancies on the BSC.
On August 12 staff received a resignation from Main Street Advisory Board Member Shelley
McDowell. During the June appointments, Kari Daniel and Emily Temple applied for Main
Street Advisory Board so staff contacted the applicants. Kari Daniel has expressed a desire to
serve on Main Street, and Emily Temple does not wish to serve at this time.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Pat Conrad to the Building & Standards Commission; appoint
John Darst to the Traffic Commission; and appoint Kari Daniel to the Main Street Advisory
Board.
