12 - Municipal Court Judge AppointmentItem No. 12 memorandum TO: Mayor & Council Gene Anderson, Interim City Manager & Finance Director FROM: Tom Hunt, Municipal Judge SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE AND ASSOCIATE MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE DATE: August 27, 2019 BACKGROUND: Section 27 of the Paris City Charter states the City Council shall appoint a duly licensed attorney to serve as city judge for a term of two years. STATUS OF ISSUE: I have served as Municipal Court Judge since October 1985, and Judge Biard has served as Associate Municipal Court Judge since July 2013. The current terms for both judges will end September 30, 2019. The new term will begin October 1, 2019 and end September 30, 2021. BUDGET: No impact to the budget. RECOMMENDATION: Re -appoint Judge Hunt to serve as Municipal Court Judge and Judge Biard to serve as Associate Municipal Court Judge.
