2019-036 - Approving Continued Receipt of a Statutory Share of Bingo Prize Fees Collected on Charitable Bing AcitivtyRESOLUTION NO. 2019-036
WHEREAS, non-profit charitable organizations conducting bingo in Texas collect a
5% fee on prizes awarded; and
WffEIREAS, the City of Paris, Texas is currently entitled to receive a portion of bingo
prize fees collected by such organizations within the city; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 914 enacted by the 86th Texas Legislature requires the
affirmative approval of the City Council to continue the City's eligibility to receive a share of
bingo prize fees collected after January 1, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds that it is in the best interests of the City of
Paris and its citizens that the City council approves of the City's continued eligibility to
receive a share of collected bingo prize fees:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City of Paris, Texas shall continue to receive a share of bingo
prize fees collected within the City on and after January 1, 2020, and thereafter,
Section 2® The City Manager is directed to promptly provide a true and correct copy
of this Resolution to the Texas Lottery Commission, to comply with House Bill 914, 86th
Texas Legislature.
