1993-048-RES WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation is administering a program to provide assistance for
RESOLUTION NO. 93-048
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation is
administering a program to provide assistance for cities to
promote increased safety belt use among drivers and front
seat passengers and the use of child restraints, which
program is entitled, "Occupant Protection Selective Traffic
Enforcement Project", to be known as OP STEP; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it
to be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris to seek
such assistance; and,
WHEREAS, an application for such grant assistance should
be made, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
1. That an application be made to the Texas Department
of Transportation for the Texas Traffic Safety Program.
2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of
Paris, be, and he is hereby appointed as the Authorized
Official of said project and is authorized and directed to
execute on behalf of the City of Paris the application and
contract for grant.
3. That Kar 1 Louis, Ch ief of Pol ice, Par i s Police
Department, be and he is hereby appointed as Project Director
and is hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of
the City of Paris all reports, communications, assurances and
documents necessary for the completion of said project.
4. That W. E. Anderson, Director of Finance, be, and
he is hereby authorized and directed to serve as the
Financial Officer for said project and to receive and
distribute funds for purposes of the Texas Traffic Safety
Program,
