Item No. 16 <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: Gene Anderson, Interim City Manager & Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: 2019-20 BUDGET AMENDMENT <br />DATE: November 15, 2019 <br />BACKGROUND: The current phone system at the Police Department is an analog key system <br />installed when the department moved there in 2006. Parts for the 13 year old system are difficult <br />to find when needed for repairs. Failures with various parts of the system are becoming more <br />frequent. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The goal is to replace the old system with a voice over internet protocol <br />phone system. The ordinance being presented amends the current budget by increasing the Police <br />Department budget by $120,000 which is the expected cost of the new system. Funds for the <br />phone system will come from general fund reserves. <br />BUDGET: 2019-20 Budget will be increased by $120,000. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the budget amendment ordinance. <br />
