1991-013-RES WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 19th day RESOLUTION NO. 91-013 WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 19th day of January, 1991, for the purpose of authorizing the imposition of sales and use tax under Section 4A of Article 5190.6 of Vernon's Annotated Texas Statutes which would assess corporate limits of the City of Paris, which would fund a corporation to carry out industrial development programs as permitted by law. WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of Texas, Paris Division, in Civil Action No. P-75-3-CA, and as provided in the Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas wherein they do not conflict with said Order, such election was conducted and held at seven (7) specified and designated polling places, that is one polling place in Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the seven (7) respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, to-wit: (1) IN DISTRICT (1) A TOTAL OF 52 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For 17 Against 35 (2) IN DISTRICT TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 21 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For 8 Against 13 (3) IN DISTRICT THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 132 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For 22 Against 110 (4) IN DISTRICT FOUR (4) A TOTAL OF 87 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For 18 Against 69 (5) IN DISTRICT FIVE (5) A TOTAL OF 68 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For 15 Against 53 ABSENTEE VOTES - A TOTAL OF 242 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For Against 111 131 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that from the above and foregoing canvass of the returns of the votes in the seven (7) respective voting boxes in such election, it is declared and determined that the imposition of sales and use tax for industrial development failed by a vote of 468 for and 852 against.
