1991-120-RES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Lamar County, Texas, is deeply cognizant of the problem
RESOLUTION NO. 91-120
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Lamar
County, Texas, is deeply cognizant of the problem of drugs in
our area and of the tragic consequences thereof to our
citizenry of all classes; and,
WHEREAS, we deem it incumbent upon us as guard ians of
the public trust to support in every appropriate way efforts
to combat this evil which afflicts such a large segment of
the population; and,
WHEREAS, we are ever mindful that there are in our city
and county strong and effective forces marshalled to confront
and bring to justice those persons who would traffic in
illegal drugs and would otherwise be engaged in drug-related
activities; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
that Governor Ann Richards be made aware of the City of
Paris I support for her efforts through the Texas Narcotics
Control Program and the Regional Controlled Substance
Apprehension Program, and of our continuing request that she
support these programs for which local resources are
inadequate; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City
of Paris, Mattie Cunningham, be, and she is hereby directed
to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to our
Honorable Governor.
