1991-090-RES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware of a need for drug resistance training for minors RESOLUTION NO. QI QQQ WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware of a need for drug resistance training for minors who reside within the corporate limits of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the City of Paris cooperate with the Paris Independent School District in presenting such a program, for which certified police officer time would be made available to be trained in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program and would be made available to conduct such training for the chosen age group, being 5th grade students; and, WHEREAS, such participation could only be justified to the extent that grant money is procured to finance the same; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the City Council is committed to participate with Paris Independent School District in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program to the extent that money is made available through grants to finance same; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manag~r of the City of Paris, Michael E. Malone, be, and he IS hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris any documents, assurances, reports and communications necessary to assist Paris Independent School District in its application for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program grant from Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Title V, Drug Free Schools and Communities Act funds through the Texas Education Agency.
