1991-086-RES WHEREAS, the City desirous of reducing fatalities; and, RESOLUTION NO. 91-086 WHEREAS, the City desirous of reducing fatalities; and, Council traffic of the City accidents, of Paris is injuries and WHEREAS, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have set aside federal dollars for states and municipalities to reduce DWI and other highway accidents, injuries and fatalities and have identified highway safety programs to alleviate problems on our highways; and, WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation is receptive to receiving $14,500.00 of federal grant money to be given to the City of Paris to implement a program entitled "Driving While Intoxicated Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP)"; and, WHEREAS, it would be right and proper to authorize the City Manager of the City of Paris to make grant application for such funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the City Manager of the City of Paris, Michael E. Malone, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to make application for a grant through the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation for a program entitled "Driving While Intoxicated Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP)".
