BACKGROUND: On June 22, 2020, City Council directed staff to advertise the District Three
Council vacancy, and accept applications up until noon on July 9.
STATUS OF ISSUE: City staff advertised for the vacancy and has received applications from
two qualified candidates residing in District Three, Casey Jordan and Gary Savage. Attached are
the applications for review by City Council.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Schedule a special City Council meeting for the purpose of
interviewing the applicants and possibly appointing a candidate to fill the vacant position of City
Council District Three.

Dear Mayor Clifford and Council,
My name is Casey Jordan and the purpose of this letter is to request that the council consider me
to fill the vacant District 3 seat on the council.
I was born and raised in Lamar County and lived here most of my life. A good percentage of
that time, I've resided in District 3. Since returning to Paris in 2011, I have worked as a teacher
for Paris ISD and currently teach for North Lamar ISD. I also have a rental property that I am
almost finished refurbishing and intend to buy more properties in the future. My family has a
long history in this area both as small business owners and as teachers.
My one key desire is to see the City of Paris grow. I'd like to see that happen in a number of
areas including bringing new employers to the area as well as increasing the number of events
that could bring tourism to our town. I am also interested in enhancing or increasing the
educational opportunities being offered in the area.
The City of Paris is a wonderful place to live and work however, I think we can all agree that
improvements need to be made in the number of high-quality jobs in the area. My efforts will be
focused on how best to do that for the city and for District 3.

Subject: Why I am applying for a position on the Paris Texas City Council
Dear Mayor and Council Members,
I understand that you will soon be appointing a person to fill the council seat vacated in district 3.
1 believe that I am a good choice for that position.
I already serve as a commissioner/Chairman on the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. I also
serve on the Red River Valley Boys and Girls Club board and the City Square Paris board as a liaison. I
have also served on the Board of Trustee's at Chisum ISD and the Lamar County 100 Club helping to
raise money for the families of fallen first responders. So, I have experience working with constituents in
the City of Paris in an official capacity.
I am the Pastor of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church here in Paris. I also have worked at Campbell Soup for 31
yea rs.
I want to see Paris grow in the areas of Infrastructure and Industry/Jobs. I will do my very best to be a
councilman of Integrity and of upstanding moral character. I think that you will find that these are
qualities that I humbly possess.
For all the reasons stated above, I believe that if appointed to the open council seat, I will work hard
and be a good representative for the community of Paris Texas
