SUBJECT: ONE APPOINTMENT TO HOUSING AUTHORITY
DATE: August 10, 2020
BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards & Commissions adopted by City Council
require that appointments be made at the second regular City Council meeting in June. Gary
Savage was appointed by the mayor to serve on the Housing Authority,
STATUS OF ISSUE: Subsequently, Gary Savage was appointed to City Council District 3 on
July 27, 2020, leaving a vacant position on the Housing Authority.
Pursuant to Texas Local Government §392.031(a), the presiding officer of the governing body of
a municipality shall appoint the members. Mayor Clifford wishes to appoint T.K. Haynes to the
Housing Authority.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Appoint T.K. Haynes to fill the vacant position of Gary Savage on the
Housing Authority.
