Glee Emmite called the meeting to order at 4:35 PM, July 14, 2020, in the City Council chambers. 2. Glee Emmite welcomed and introduced new members of the Main Street board followed by an introduction of current board members. 3. Review and approve minutes — A motion to approve the June 2020 minutes was made by William Walker, second by Kari Daniel, motion carried. 4. Board member project reports — ® William Walker shared information on Distrx.com, a free app that shows shopping, entertainment, parking locations, local attractions, upcoming events and offers/promotions from local merchants. The app provides national coverage for anyone wanting to view what Paris downtown has to offer. The distrx app supports historic and art walking tours and other app -based "apptivities". Some special events may require a. small fee. William will provide additional information at a later date as lie investigates the app. - Kari Daniel is working with Cheri Bedford and Chris at the Toole Group on lighting around the plaza. He recommended up lighting that can be used year-round.. A white light system for each tree is estimated at $7,600. Another option is a system that can change the lights' color through a phone app. This could be used for with seasonal changes or special events. This system is estimated at $13,700. Other options such as sidewalk lights and fountain lights will be investigated. - 'Fanner Dobrovolsky has an interest in the flowers around the plaza and has been watering them during the extreme heat to prevent scorching. - Glee Eirunite and Emily Temple have been working on updating the building inventory for a downtown map and business brochure. Several buildings do not have the street number posted on the front. 5. Updates from Community Partners Becky Semple, Tourism Director from the Chamber of Commerce & VCC — The following items were shared. - A red booth serving as a kiosk will soon be installed at the Eiffel Tower with Paris information. ® Videos will be added to the Chamber website to show why "Paris is always a great idea." ® Virtual tours of Paris will be developed. - Pump track is to be completed in 6-7 weeks. ® Barber Hills Bike Frail ride is in September. - Tour de Paris is scheduled for September but tentative at this time. Glee Emmite shared the following info: HPC ­ Rigby's on the north side of plaza received a Certificate of Appropriateness for the front of their new business. Priest Emporium was approved for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the front of the store. It will be a three-phase project. PDA --No meeting this month. The next meeting is scheduled for next week. Glee mentioned that there were 72 people from out of town in her shop during the previous month, 6. Coordinator's Report -- Cheri Bedford discussed the following. 1) The workplan was updated in 2017 with 3 goals identified. Major sections of the plan were explained to the board. This year, Cheri revised the layout of the plan into a chart format with blue, black and red text showing the progress of each objective at this point in time. The Work Plan and other charts were emailed to board members prior to the meeting and can be studied in depth as time allows. 2) Paris Wine Fest is scheduled for September 19". Because of COVID- 19, social distancing is being addressed with these measures: 2 time slots for participants to pick up their swag bags for the event, 10 business locations, music outside and the tables for food and wine in separate locations inside the business. The event usually generates $10-15,000 for Building Improvement Grants (BIG). Tanner will be in charge of the Sign Up Genius app for volunteers. 3)The President's Awards Program, a part of the Texas Downtown Association, has several award categories that can be considered for downtown businesses meeting the specific criteria. 7. With no other business, Glee Emmite made a motion to adjourn, second by'ranner Dobrovolsky, motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 5:44 PM.
