SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 2020-21 TAX RATE

BACKGROUND: A public hearing on the proposed City tax rate is required by Chapter 26 of
the Texas Tax Code. On August 24 the City Council approved a resolution calling for a public
hearing on the 2020-21 City tax rate on September 14. A legal notice advertising the public
hearing was published in the Paris News. A copy of the proposed tax rate was placed on the City
website.
STATUS OF ISSUE: The City Council needs to hold a public hearing on the 2020-21 proposed
City tax rate on September 14. Pursuant to State Law, the tax rate cannot be adopted the same
night as the public hearing, so a special meeting is scheduled for September 15 to adopt the tax
rate.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Hold the public hearing on the proposed 2020-21 City tax rate.
