SUBJECT: CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION, STATEMENT OF ELECTED OFFICER
AND OATH OF OFFICE
DATE: November 9, 2020
BACKGROUND: On February 24, 2020, the City Clerk issued a certificate of unopposed
candidate for Districts 1, 3, and 6 and by Ordinance Number 2020-008, City Council declared
Council Members for District 1, 3 and 6 elected to office. Pursuant to State Election Law, an
oath of office was issued to Council Members for District 1, 3, and 6 on May 11, 2020.
On November 3, 2020, a general election was held for the purpose of voters to elect one Council
Member from District 2.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Pursuant to State Law, a certificate of election shall be issued to each
candidate who is elected to office; each elected officer shall execute a statement of elected
officer; and each elected officer shall take the oath of office prior to taking office.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: An oath of office will be administered to the elected officer in District
2.
