1989-105-RES WHEREAS, CITY COUNCIL IS AWARE OF COMMUNITY NEEDS FOR WHICH LOCAL FUNDS HAVE
RESOLUTION NO. 89-105
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware of
community needs for which local funds have not been and will not
be available to accomplish. Such needs are in the area of street
paving; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to develop a viable urban
community, including decent housing and a suitable living
environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for
persons of low/moderate income; and,
WHEREAS, cer ta in cond it ions exis t wh ich represen t a threat
to the public health and safety; and,
WHEREAS, funding for such programs are available through the
Texas Department of Commerce for the Community Development Fund,
under the Texas Community Development Program; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interests of the
City of Paris to apply for funding under the 1989 Texas Community
Development Program; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
1. That a Texas Community Development Program application
for the Community Development Fund is hereby authorized to be
filed on behalf of the City with the Texas Department of
Commerce.
2. That such application address the following activities:
(a) Paving West Walker Street from 19th N.W. to 23rd
N.W. and 22nd N.W. and 23rd N.W. from Shiloh to Walker,
1800 L.F.
(b) Paving 28th N.W. from Graham Street to Campbell Street,
2,250 L.F.
(c) Paving 13th N.E. from Tudor Street to Grove Street, 850
L.F.
3. That the City's application be placed in competition
for funding under the Community Development Fund.
4. That the application be for $123,700.00 of grant funds
to carry out street paving improvements.
5. That, Michael E. Malone, City Manager, be, and he is
hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of
Paris all necessary applications, communications, instruments,
assurances and documents required for the completion of said
projects.
