1989-034-RES WHEREAS, ADVANTAGES OF CITY COUNCIL RECOGNIZES AN UPDATED
RESOLUTION NO. 89-034
WHEREAS,
advantages of
and,
the Paris City Council, recognizes the
having an updated telecommunications network;
WHEREAS, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company has
partnered with the community in providing assistance on a
variety of economic development efforts; and,
WHEREAS,
presented its
and,
Southwestern Bell Telephone Company has
"Texas First" plan to The Paris City Council;
WHEREAS, "Texas First" might provide certain advantages
to the citizens of Paris who are Southwestern Bell Telephone
subscribers; and
WHEREAS, it is unders tood that as a part of "Texas
First" Southwestern Bell is seeking a flexible range in its
rate of return as determined by the Texas Public Utility
Commission; and,
WHEREAS, paris City Council recognizes that the Public
Utility Commission has jurisdiction over the rates and
services of the company, and encourages the Public Utility
Commission to develop fair and reasonable rates within a
reasonable time; and,
WHEREAS, the
Public Utility
Southwestern Bell
"Texas First" proposal is included in the
Commission's Docket 8585 to address
Telephone earnings levels; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PARIS CITY COUNCIL, That the
Council requests that the Texas Public Utility Commission
give consideration to any merits of the "Texas First"
proposal in view of the evidence presented in Docket 8585.
