WHEREAS, Article 6701m-2 provides that upon approval of
the governing body of a city, automobiles used by police
need not be marked as city owned vehicles when used for the
purpose of performing official duties; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris desires
to authorize the Paris Police Department to use unmarked
vehicles as they may deem necessary in order to facilitate
police INVESTIGATIVE undercover work and other legitimate
functions of the police department; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chief, Paris Police
Department, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to
designate such vehicles to be used as unmarked vehicles for
performing official duties; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that W. E. Anderson, Director
of Finance, City of Paris, be, and he is hereby authorized
and directed to make application for the procurement of
license plates to be used on Paris Police Department vehi-
cles, designated by the Chief, which will not reveal that
the vehicles are owned by the City of Paris or exempt from
taxes from the State of Texas, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this
Resolution be transmitted by Mattie Cunningham, City Clerk
of the City of Paris to William D. Poole, Chief Supervisor,
Special Plate Division, State Department of Highways and
Public Transportation.
