1988-049-RES WHEREAS, the term of office of Cathie Tyler and Mildred Ingram as members of the Animal Advisory
RESOLUTION NO. 88-049
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is
desirous of improving State Highway 19 from Huntsville in
Walker County to Paris in Lamar County; and,
I-.'HEREAS, the Highway 19 Improvement Association has
requested that all cities along the route from Huntsville in
Walker County to Paris in Lamar County consider an endorse-
ment of an improvement project for State Highway 19 from its
present status to that of a four lane, preferably divided,
highway along its length; and,
WHEREAS, it would be in the best
citizens of Paris for the City Council of
to support such four lane improvement of
and,
interest of the
the City of Paris
State Highway 19;
WHEREAS, such improvement, with necessary realignments,
structures, bypasses and other features, would assure a
first class highway facility beneficial to the communities
it would serve and the general motoring public, both
intrastate and interstate; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, That the State Highway Commission is requested to
approve the four lane improvement of State Highway 19 from
Huntsville to Paris; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City of Paris pledges
its cooperation and support in every way possible for the
four lane improvement of State Highway 19; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk of the City
of Paris, Mattie Cunningham, be, and she is hereby
authorized and directed to send certified copies of this
Resolution to Mr. Raymond E. Stotzer, Jr., Engineer/-
Director, State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation, 11th & Brazos, Austin, Texas 78701-2483, Mr.
Bobby Myers, State Highway District Engineer, P. O. Box 250,
Paris, Texas 75461-0250, Mr. David Glass, President, and
Richard Chamberlain, Secretary/Treasurer, Highway 19
Association, 1651 Clarksville Street, Paris, Texas 75460,
and to Mr. Don Ward, President, Texas Good Roads
Association, 400 W. 15th Street, Suite 417, Austin, Texas
78701.
