1988-048-RES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore in Resolution No. 88-044 authorize a 15%
RESOLUTION NO. 88-048
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did
heretofore in Resolution No. 88-044 authorize a 15% penalty
to be added to the delinquent tax accounts in accordance
with Section 33.07 of the Texas Property Tax Code; and,
WHEREAS, in order to add the 15% penalty to tax
accounts which are delinquent on July 1 of a year, it is
necessary for the governing body to direct that the same be
added thereto and that the governing body enter into
contract with an attorney for the purpose of collection of
delinquent tax accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it
to be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris to
engage Thomas E. Hunt, III, as delinquent tax collection
attorney using the professional services contract form
attached hereto as Exhibit A; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, That the form of the Profess ional Service Contract
for delinquent tax collection, by and between the City of
Paris and Thomas E. Hunt, III, dated May 18, 1988, attached
hereto as Exhibit A, is hereby approved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mayor of the City of
Paris, Billy Joe Burnett, be, and he is hereby authorized
and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris, the
Professional Service Contract for delinquent tax collection
with Thomas E. Hunt, III.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
This contract, entered into this 18th day of May, 1988,
by and between the City of Paris, a municipal corporation of
the Lamar County, Texas, hereinafter referred to as CITY,
and Thomas E. Hunt, III, an attorney licensed to practice
law by the State Bar of Texas, a citizen of the City of
Paris, Lamar County, Texas, hereinafter called HUNT,
wherein the parties contract and agree as follows:
1. That HUNT agrees to serve as Delinquent Tax
Collection Attorney from June 1, 1988, through June 30,
1990, performing those duties in accordance with the Texas
Property Tax Code.
2. That CITY agrees to pay HUNT for his services as
Delinquent Tax Collection Attorney, fifteen (15%) percent of
additional penalty assessed against ad valorem taxes payable
to CITY and delinquent on July 1, 1988, and each year
thereafter, and all other attorney fees permitted to be
charged by the Texas Property Tax Code upon which tax suits
have been filed.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused the
contract to be executed this 18th day of May, 1988.
