1987-037-RES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, did heretofore in Resolution No. 85-056 authorize
RESOLUTION NO. 87-037
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, did
heretofore in Resolution No. 85-056 authorize contracting
with John Buss for professional services as Director of
Engineering and Assistant City Manager of the City of Paris;
and,
WHEREAS, the desire for continuity of Engineering
management during the time of major construction projects
effecting the water and wastewater system of the City of
Paris which resulted in the above described contract will
have been accomplished by the 29th day of May, 1987; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it
to be in the best interest of the City of Paris that John
Buss' employment contract be amended upon the terms and
conditions and in the form of Addendum No. 1 attached hereto
as Exhibit A, and such form should be approved; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, That the Professional Service Contract with John
Buss, be, and the same is hereby amended as contained in
Addendum No. 1 attached hereto as Exhibit A, the form of
which is hereby approved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mayor of the City of
PARIS, Billy Joe Burnett, be, and he is hereby authorized
and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris, the
Addendum No. 1 to the Professional Service Contract with
John Buss.

ADDENDUM NO. 1 TO PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF PARIS AND JOHN BUSS, DATED JULY 8, 1985.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
That this Addendum to Professional Service Contract,
made this 30th day of March, 1987, by and between CITY OF
PARIS, acting by and through its Mayor, Billy Joe Burnett,
duly authorized and John Buss, WITNESSETH:
It is hereby muta11y agreed by and between City of
Paris and John Buss, that paragraph 1 to the Professional
Service Contract between the City of Paris and John Buss,
dated July 8, 1985, be changed to read as follows:
"1. For and in consideration of salary payments and
other consideration hereinafter mentioned to be
made by CITY, BUSS agrees to act as Assistant City
Manager, and Special Proj ects Engineer for CITY
and to carry out, to the best of his ability, all
duties imposed upon him by this contract, the City
Manager of the City of Paris, the Charter of the
City of Paris, and the laws of the State of
Texas."
Paragraph 7. D. shall be changed to read as follows:
"7. D.
For the period beginning October 1, 1986, and
continuing until the termination of this
contract, BUSS reserves the unilateral right
to terminate this contract by giving 14 days
notice of such termination to the CITY."
Paragraph 7. E. shall be added and shall read as
follows:

expenses of $5,000.; payment to International
City Management Association Retirement Corpo-
ration, an IRA account, a deferred
compensation plan as named by BUSS or to BUSS
or any combination of the afore mentioned, an
amount equal to the amount deposited or could
have been required to be deposited to TMRS by
the City for BUSS from the date of hire
through September 30, 1985; and pay for
accumulated earned leave at the rate of one
weeks pay for each five (5) days of accrued
leave. BUSS waives the City of Paris Person-
nel Policies provisions dealing with
grievance appeals."
