BACKGROUND:
Bids for water and wastewater treatment chemicals are scheduled annually. Bids were received
and publicly opened at 3:00 p.m. on 07/20/2021.
STATUS OF ISSUE:
Bids were advertised in The Paris News on 06/20/2021 and 06/27/2021, and published on the City
of Paris Department of Utilities website; bid packets were direct mailed to fifty-nine (59) vendors;
twenty-seven (27) bids from seventeen (17) vendors were submitted. Low bids received:
Chlorine, $1,320.00/ton, Brenntag Southwest, Inc.; Alum, $275.00/ton, Chameleon Industries,
Inc..; Ammonia, $1,280.00/ton, Airgas Specialty Products, Inc.; Bulk Lime, $190.55/ton, Austin
White Lime, Co.; Bagged Lime, $283.61/ton, Texas Lime Company; Powdered Activated Carbon,
$0.65/lb., Cabot Norit Americas, Inc.; Sulfur Dioxide, $1,030.00/ton, Brenntag Southwest, Inc.;
Sodium Hydroxide, $679.14/ton, DPC Industries, Inc.; Polymer, $1.32/lb., Polydyne, Inc.;
Fluoride, $2.19/gal, Univar USA, Inc. The bid tabulation is attached. All original bid documents
are available for review in the office of the City Clerk.
BUDGET:
Department 82 - Water Production 10-0211-82-00: $708,076.10; Department 86 — Wastewater
Treatment 10-0211-86-00: $183,500.00; Overall total: $891,576.10.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve the low bids received for water and wastewater treatment chemicals to be used in
FY 2021/2022.
2. Deny the low bids received for water and wastewater treatment chemicals to be used in FY
2021/2022.
RECOMMENDATION:
